President - McKenna Nelson (she/her, [email protected])  

McKenna is a senior in the Fisheries Wildlife and Conservation Biology major with a focus in wildlife. The past few years she has worked with Piping Plovers, Monarch Butterflies and various other species at her volunteer positions and study abroads. McKenna hopes to bring resources and fun hands-on events for members to gain experience and provide a friendly space for folks with similar interests. In the future she hopes to work with endangered species and help organize citizen science projects to involve the community with wildlife and conservation. In her free time she enjoys exploring local parks, hanging out with her pets and cooking.

Secretary - Olivia Hanson ([email protected])

Olivia is a Senior in the FWCB major with a focus on Wildlife. Olivia has been a Piping Plover monitor at Silver Lake State Park in Michigan for two years and is very passionate about Reptiles, Amphibians, and Birds. She also works at the Bell Museum as an interpretive guide and Animal caretaker. In the future she hopes to work closely in the field with snakes and help educate the public about venomous snakes. Olivia hopes to create connections for club members in the FWCB community and encourage members to expand their interests. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her cat and lizard as well as hiking around the Twin Cities.

Treasurer - Jack Soukup ([email protected])  

Jack is a Junior in the FWCB major focusing on the Wildlife track, minoring in Forest Ecology and GIS. This previous summer, he worked with the Minnesota DNR Fisheries division at the International Falls area office. He is interested in combining technologies with natural resource management, fighting/mitigating the effects of climate change within the sphere of natural resources, and strengthening cooperation between Government and Tribal natural resource agencies. In the future, Jack hopes to find work with natural resource aviation and/or wildland firefighting. In his free time, he enjoys making music, drawing, enjoying and critiquing art of all kinds, and jumps at any opportunity to make good conversation with friends and family.

Vice President of Fisheries - Jonathan Wilson-Thieroff (he/him, [email protected]

Jonathan is a sophomore in the Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology major with a focus on fisheries. He is passionate about fishes native to Minnesota and is currently working on a study of aging Horny Head Chubs. Jonathan hopes to attend graduate school in the future and work for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources or Pollution Control Agency. As a club officer, he would like to provide opportunities for club members to connect and build community. Jonathan enjoys fishing, woodcarving and playing musical instruments in his free time.

Vice President of Wildlife - Micaela Sanchez Cereceda (she/her, [email protected])  

Micaela is a Senior in the Pre-vet and Animal Science Major with a focus on Large Exotic Animal Medicine. Over the past few years, she has interned at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville in the Mammal nursery and as an Advanced Intern working in the Avian and Mammal Nurseries, along with helping in the treatment room assisting the Veterinarians. She also works as a vet assistant at a dogs and cats clinic and a lab assistant at the Preclinical Research Center here on the St. Paul Campus. Her future career goals are to attend Veterinary school and graduate with a DVM in Wildlife Medicine and continue my career working with the large exotic animals around Africa. She has always had a big passion for animals and is excited to see where the future takes her.

Ornithology Officer - Ash Geske (they/them, [email protected])  

Ash is a junior in the Fisheries, Wildlife, Conservation major with a focus in conservation. They have interned with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and the Minnesota DNR. In the fall, they will be studying the effects of heavy metals on grassland bird species. They also work as a curatorial assistant at the Bell Museum. Ash hopes to bring a love of birds and the outdoors to all members. They also hope to make any event a welcome place for fellow LGBTQ+ students. Their future career goals are to study birds in Australia, particularly their favorite species: bowerbirds. Ash enjoys birding, knitting, and hiking in their free time.

Aiden is a junior majoring in Supply Chain and Operations Management. As the Club Photographer he is able two combine his two favorite hobbies of photography and enjoying the great outdoors. Aiden is fascinated by Herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians, but is glad to be learning more about any minnesotan critters. Outside of FWCB Club Aiden is an officer and player on the Gopher Rugby team.

Pre-Vet Officer - Cora Leonard (she/her, [email protected])

Cora is a Junior in the Animal Science Pre-Vet Major with an interest in wildlife/exotice medicine. She has always grown up around all different types of animals and has had a passion for caring for them. She interned at The Great Plains Zoo and currently has an internship at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in the mammal nursery. She began working at a small animal vets clinic as a junior in highschool and currently works at one just outside of Minneapolis. She hopes to attend graduate school after completing her undergraduate degree and work towards getting her DVM in either exotic or small animal medicine. In her free time, she likes to go hiking, watching movies, or hanging out with friends. She is very excited for this upcoming year and all the activities that will be put on as well as meeting new people!
